THE DECEIT OF BEAUTY

These days every one is trying to look good. So the gyms, the diet and health centers are swarmed and articles and books on health and beauty sell like hot cakes. Besides beauty parlours and spas for ladies, there are grooming classes for males and they hold lessons on etiquette on "how to impress the opposite sex", among others. 

It is very amusing to see people of all ages and profession to succumb to the new standards of beauty. It seems that aging people don't want to grow older and young girls, as young as nine ,are in a hurry to grow into young women, comparing themselves with movie actresses and models who have a terrible complex regarding what is considered pulchritude which, more often than not translates as porcelain smooth white skin and a size zero body. Considering the time spend in gazing at the mirror, if only mirrors were perishable items like shoes and dresses, which get ragged after constant usage, all of them would crack in several weeks.

A little girl shared her experience of dieting on the net : 

"I am afraid of putting on weight , so I stuck a picture of a fat lady on the door of my refrigerator to frighten my self every time I am tempted to open for having ice cream or butter."

I am sorry to say that this phobia of gaining weight cost the little girl her childhood. When she grows up, her money would be stolen by diet fads and centers.

People refuse to age, they don’t want to look old, so they seek refuge under the sharp knives of cosmetic surgeons and anti aging creams to hide their wrinkles and grey hair. Women entering into thirties are afraid of loosing their jobs and their boyfriends to the younger girls.

A man's class is no more measured by the amount of his wealth but by the number of girls getting all over him. Adultery and fornication is served like a tasty dish. Famous men appear in public flanked by girls, proudly displayed like trophies.

School children are not spared as well - they are also dragged into this pomp and show. Sexy education is seeped into their minds in the pretext of sex education with the inclusion of  teaching 'how to use contraceptives' and 'ways of avoiding unwanted pregnancies'. 

This occurs in a laissez faire lifestyle where vice is glorified and virtues are demonized - the fruits of radical liberation.
