Women of India pay taxes, vote, and are full citizens of progressive India, staying abreast with the men of India. But women tacitly restrict their movements - they don't carry themselves as men because they feel unsafe - they fear rape and other gender based harassment If they're not safe, it's the criminal's fault and government's fault for not ensuring safety and prompt punishment. Don't blame the women; they are the victims.
In one spectacular move, Miss Asha has truly shown the attitude which prevails - that it is the girl who should watch how she dresses, where she goes and at what time. Just saying the victim should be more aware is like condoning the action of rape and diminishing the heinous nature of the act. What will Miss Asha say of the gang rape of a tribal woman who was not dressed provocatively, who had not gone to an "unsafe" area or at "unsafe "time but was gang raped in her village by her neighbours? Also, do the tourists who are women be handed over a detailed list of places and do's and dont's and what they should and should not wear every time they visit India? What kind of a picture are we trying to portray here? It is not just a girl was raped because she was out of her house at 11 pm; women are being raped regardless of the time, location or even their nationality. Rape is rape and it is a most vile act.
Yes, girls should be cautious but will caution on a girl's behalf end and prevent this crime?
No. It would require society to step up and realize that it is the rapists who should be treated as outcasts and recognize rape is an indefensible offence.
Nobody seems to understand that rape is not caused by a woman it is caused by a man who cant keep it in, can't rein in his highly horny trait or aggressiveness or whatever perverse thought in his mind. Start teaching men how to look at a woman and how to respect a woman. The problem lies in his thoughts and assumptions, not in the woman's dressing and the hour she is out and her being alone or with a guy. Whether she is with a guy or not is none of your business.
Suppose you are roaming somewhere later night in costly shoes, jeans, shirt and jacket you have an I-phone and wallet full money and then suddenly someone robs you and flogs you severely. Now who is responsible for that ? You or the robber?
There are evil and sexually perverted monsters in the society. Girls need to be careful and on be in constant vigil. They shouldn't walk in dark alleys all on their own. But, if a girl gets molested even when she was careless, it's never her fault; its always the molesters fault.
A rapist will find any excuse to justify his sins. And, we don't need any sort of approval from west. A WOMEN WILL LOOK AS BEAUTIFUL IN A SKIRT AS SHE DOES IN A SAREE. IT'S YOUR MENTALITY THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. I'LL NOT DECIDE WHAT MY DAUGHTER WILL WEAR WHEN SHE COMES OF DECIDING AGE. I'LL ADVICE HER, INCULCATE VALUES AND MORALS IN HER WHICH WILL HELP HER DECIDE. ITS NOT 'APING THE WEST' IT IS CALLED 'SHE'S GOT HER OWN LIFE TO LIVE AND ENJOY ON HER OWN TERMS..
Go ahead and justify the photosensitive Indian men. They are fed with the idea that if they see flesh they're supposed to rape. If a man finds a woman so arousing, just find a secluded place and masturbate - leave the woman out of your fantasies. Its not about lack of clothes which cause rapes in India; it's the lack of conscience and consequence. If the consequence for rape is castration without anaesthesia and slow torture, it will kill any erection.
Rape is the fault of the psychotic, weak, dirty-minded, narrow-minded and egotistic rapists who suffer from superiority complexes and who get threatened by female independence, power and freedom!
A WOMAN IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RAPE DONE ON HER. Get this tattooed on your forehead guys!
