KAMASUTRA 3D: MELLOWED DOWN VERSION FOR INDIA AND ANOTHER VERSION FOR THE REST OF THE WORLD

The trailer of Sherlyn Chopra's much awaited film Kam*sutra 3D is out.
Director Rupesh Paul is hoping to have the world premiere of the film at the Cannes Film Festival next year as the movie has already got a great response at the market section this year at the fest.

"I am already preparing to send the film for Cannes and Berlin. The selection will be purely on merit and I am hoping we will make it. India was the guest country at Cannes this year and people are taking Indian cinema very seriously for the last four years," he said.

'Kam*sutra 3D', which is based on Vatsayana Kam*sutra, an ancient Hindu text in Sanskrit literature will be released in Hindi and English. The movie is set in the backdrop of the real historical setting.

There will be two versions of the film - an Indian version, which is a very mellowed down version and another for the rest of the world.

Kam*sutra 3D
What one can gauge based on the latter paragraph above, is that India is still highly conservative when it comes to sens**l movies. But, India is also torn on the lines of liberalism and traditionalism.

With the advent of Internet, po*n is available online as well as 18SX movies so the mellowed down version of Kam*sutra for India gives the impression that progressive India still has not come out from the shackles of conservative establishments.

Perhaps it can be said that India largely is orthodox when it comes steamy scenes in Indian movies, kam*sutra or not. But, the song scenes in Indian masala movies (movies with romance, action, comedy and sentiment incorporated) border po*n, the almost necessary addition of 'item girl song' being featured as a highlight in almost all high grossing Indian movies. Smo*ching scenes too, were once tab*o and exclusive to Hollywood movies but now such slots are being accepted in Indian movies, specifically, accepted by the Indian youth. Examples of such movies are Ek Deewana Tha, Aashiqui 2, Jab We Met and numerous other recent movies in all Indian languages.

The fact that the producer, director, technical crew and actors starring Kam*sutra 3D are Indians themselves, the saying that the Indian version is very mellowed down and another version for the rest of the world is an irony in itself. India's mentality has come leaps and bounds when comes to s*x-related cinema, with Sun*y Leone starring in Jism 2. That movie is X-rated and did very well in India.

It is indeed a complex scenario in the country; a fine line between obnoxious s*x scenes and sweet romance. Movies only divide India more, thereof.
